Ways You Can Help
Patient Mentorship: Are you a cancer survivor and want to give your cancer a purpose? We you’re your help! Cancer Kinship is recruiting cancer survivor mentors to pair with newly diagnosed patients for one-on-one emotional support. Training provided. Bilingual opportunities are available. Ages: 21+
Workshop Facilitators: Do you have a passion, hobby or expertise that you are willing to share with others? We are looking for one-day and multi-day workshop facilitators who can teach 2-4-hour workshops on topics that empower patients to reach their wellness goals.
Skills-based Volunteering: Executive Advisory Committee, specialized committees and task forces in the areas of brand development, marketing, fundraising, event planning, outreach and business development and sustainability.
Corporate Volunteering: Host a donation drive and/or volunteer project at your company or offsite location to support our program participants. Project examples include: Assemble chemo kind kits with daily essentials to help our patients be comfortable during and after chemo treatments. Essentials donations may include items such as Chapstick, hand lotion, beanies, ginger chips or tea to help with nausea or other self-care items, then assemble into cute bags and attach personalized encouragement notes that will be distributed to our newly diagnosed cancer patient participants. Other project may include new-sew blankets to keep patients warm during lengthy chemo infusions in cold infusion rooms.
Special Events: Represent Cancer Kinship at resource fairs and assist with dissemination of program information. Assist at socialization programs for cancer patients and their families (i.e., beach days, family fun nights, hiking and walking groups).
